Lahinch is a small seaside village in the northwest of County Clare. Set in the beautiful Liscannor Bay Lahinch has long been a popular seaside destination for tourists. In recent years surfing in the area has grown and is now an internationally recognised surf destination. There is now a thriving surf school located in the bay which caters for both novices and experts alike.

Despite the sea and the surfing golf is Lahinch’s biggest claim to fame. The old course at Lahinch golf club is one of the world’s most famous links courses. Set in the sand dunes it has been referred to as the St. Andrew’s of Ireland. In 2011 Golf Magazine ranked Lahinch 42nd in the world.

Only 45 minutes from Shannon Airport and a short drive from popular tourist destinations like the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren, Lahinch is definitely worth a visit.
