Chester Beatty Museum, Dublin City Centre
The Chester Beatty Museum was founded in 1950 to house the collection of rare books ,manuscripts, prints, miniature paintings and drawings, bequeathed to Ireland by the American mining magnate, Sir Alfred Chester Beatty. The collection hails from countries across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, giving visitors a wonderful opportunity to view the artistic treasures of the great cultures and religions of the world. From 6,00 year Babylonian stone tablets, to Egyptian papyrus texts, beautifully illuminated copies of the Qur'an and the Bible the collection captures the great wealth and skill of artists over the millennia. Situated in the grounds of Dublin Castle, in the heart of Dublin city, this museum is certainly a must see.
